50 Plays in a Year

houseAaron Corbett Jan 17, 2025

In June of last year I was given an £80 gift voucher by the participants of a weekly drama group I teach. After debating with myself as to what I should spend it on and accidentally using some of it to buy a new kitchen knife. I decided I was going to use it to better myself as a facilitator. Improve my craft and knowledge of the theatre industry. Which led me to the idea of reading a play a month. 12 plays in a year. Feels like a lot right - wrong. With concentrated effort this began to feel like a very easy goal to achieve. I had read 2 plays by 11th January (History Boys & The Kite Runner).

So Kindle has been downloaded, the goal posts have been moved and I will now aim to read 50 full length plays in the year 2025. One a week being the ideal pace. I want to update my repertoire of both classical and contemporary plays. So I will embark on this literary quest aiming to conquer; Ancient Greek, Shakesperian, abstract, naturalistic, classical and contemporary plays.

Do you think I will be able to achieve it? Do you have any recommendations?

I will keep my updates and reviews of the plays I read on this blog.
